How to Use the Chart

If you Have a Regular Oven or a Gas Ovens

With this chart, you should be able to directly convert Celsius to Fahrenheit for recipes in traditional and gas ovens.

For a gas oven, check the column labeled “Gas Mark” to find the corresponding conversion equivalent.

Why the Difference?

A regular oven in the United States typically uses Fahrenheit (°F) as the standard unit for temperature settings.  In many other parts of the world, however, including Europe and most of Asia, ovens are set in Celsius (°C).

If You Have a Convection Oven

If you use a convection oven, pay attention to the two columns labeled Convection Adjustment (°C) and

Convection Adjustment (°F), respectively.

Convection ovens are more efficient when it comes to heating, and so, when using a convection oven, you have to reduce the Fahrenheit or Celcius temperature compared to a regular oven.

  • Reduce by 15°C if using Celsius settings.

  • Reduce by 25°F if using Fahrenheit settings.

Refer to the Convection Adjustment columns to reduce the temperature appropriately:

Tips for Oven Use Across Types

  • Convection Ovens

Fan-driven heat cooks food more evenly. Use lower temperatures or reduce cooking time.

  • Regular Ovens

Standard for most recipes, especially baking. Follow recipe guidelines without adjustments.

  • Gas Ovens

It may have hotspots. Consider rotating trays for even cooking.

This chart should help with accurate conversions and efficient use of any type of oven!

Relevant Conversion Formulas

The formula for converting temperatures between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) is straightforward and works for any type of oven. Multiply the Celsius temperature by 9559 (or 1.8) and add 32 to get the Fahrenheit equivalent.

Converting Celsius to Fahrenheit:°𝐹=(°𝐶×9/5)+32°

Use Our Converter

Converting Fahrenheit to Celsius:

To convert from Fahrenheit to Celcius, subtract 32 from the Fahrenheit temperature, then multiply by 5995 to get the Celsius equivalent.

Formula: °𝐶=(°𝐹−32)×9/5

Adjusting for Convection Ovens

For convection ovens, reduce the Fahrenheit temperature by about 25°F (or approximately 15°C) from the regular oven temperature to account for the more efficient heat distribution.

By applying these formulas, you can accurately convert temperatures for any recipe or oven type!

General Oven Cooking Tips

  1. Convection Ovens

Reduce the temperature by 25°F (15°C) compared to conventional oven settings.

Shorten the cooking time by ~10-15%.

  1. Conventional Ovens

Follow recipe temperatures and times as is.

  1. Gas Ovens

Monitor closely for hotspots. Rotate dishes for even cooking.

  1. Check Internal Temperatures

Use a food thermometer to ensure safety, especially for meats and poultry.

  1. Weight and Thickness

Adjust cooking time based on the ingredient's weight and thickness. Heavier or thicker items require longer cooking times.
